School Structure

Each Small Learning Community is also allied to various community groups and businesses that relate to the SLC's theme, thus connecting the curriculum in the classroom to the "real world" outside our walls. Students have opportunities for job-shadows, internships, etc. through their SLC as they matriculate to their junior and senior year. Foreign Language, Visual Arts and Physical Education are the only classes students attend "outside" of their SLC.

Each SLC offers individualized attention to students through an Advisory/Advocacy Program, and many extra-curricular activities that students will find as engaging as they are challenging.

The Eight Small Learning Communities at Luther Burbank High School are:

  • Agriculture and Environmental Sciences
  • Information Technology
  • Business/Entrepreneurship
  • Arts and Communication
  • Architectural & Industrial Technology
  • International Studies
  • Public Services
  • Health and Fitness
